A Letter from Our President

Donna Waites

Dear Partners in Mission,

Over the past year, our team at Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina has undertaken a thoughtful strategic planning process to ensure our mission remains rooted in service while more deliberately and intentionally addressing systems-level change.

We are pleased to share with you our new three-year strategic plan, which will guide this effort and our work through 2028.

We are proud to be part of the larger Sisters of Charity Health System, united by a shared commitment to addressing the critical challenges facing individuals, families, and communities. This relationship fortifies and deepens our approach, connecting us to the charism of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine and all aspects of our Catholic identity.

Affirming the inherent dignity of every person, this plan reflects our commitment to faithfully respond to the complexities of poverty in our communities. We remain steadfast and unwavering in our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, knowing we cannot reduce poverty without focusing on systemic racism and elevating voices and leadership from historically and currently marginalized communities in our state.

As the social and economic challenges facing our neighbors persist, our Foundation feels a moral and strategic responsibility to evolve.

This new plan represents a renewed commitment to how we do our work, with an intensified focus on seeding and nurturing lasting change within systems that lead to, reinforce, and exacerbate poverty in our state.

I invite you to read this plan as a reflection of who we are, what we value, and how we intend to continue to walk alongside those who are building a more just, compassionate, and equitable future. We are grateful for your ongoing partnership and for all the ways you accompany us on this shared journey of faith and justice.
