Celebrating 175 Years of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine

For 175 years, our founders—the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine (CSA)—have lived a powerful calling: To bring healing, hope and compassionate care to all, especially those most in need.

What began in 1851 with the Sisters’ arrival in Cleveland, Ohio, has grown into a legacy that continues today through the Sisters of Charity Health System and its many ministries in Cleveland, Canton and South Carolina. We are honored to be a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System and to be able to carry forward this story of faith in action, and we are excited that the Sisters’ 175th anniversary coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina.

A Legacy That Shaped Communities

For generations, the CSA Sisters helped build the foundation for:

• Social service and housing ministries
• Faith-based outreach and spiritual care

Their work has touched millions of lives—and continues to guide our mission at the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina today.
