Sisters of Charity Foundation of SC Awards $1.1 Million in Grants

SOUTH CAROLINA – (November 6, 2025)

Sisters of Charity Foundation of SC Awards $1.1 Million in Grants

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina recently awarded $1,108,000 in grants to 119 nonprofit organizations working to reduce poverty in the state. These grantee partners serve communities in all 46 South Carolina counties, meeting the immediate needs of individuals and families, breaking the cycle of poverty, and addressing systems-level change.

“At the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina, we walk alongside individuals and communities experiencing poverty, as well as the nonprofits that support them – working together to find solutions that will benefit everyone,” said Donna Waites, President of the Foundation. “We are grateful to be able to award these grants to organizations that are seeking innovative solutions that build a stronger South Carolina.”

Since 1996, the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina has awarded more than $83 million to South Carolina nonprofits.

Dr. Lee Pearson, Chair of the Foundation’s Board, said, “Reducing poverty in South Carolina takes a vast network of people and organizations addressing a wide variety of issues. We feel honored to be able to support nonprofits that champion affordable housing, accessible healthcare, food security, economic mobility, educational attainment, and so much more.”

This fall the Foundation also announced a new strategic plan that will begin in 2026. The strategic plan will guide the Foundation’s grantmaking, advocacy, and other key goals for the next three years.
