SOUTH CAROLINA – (October 18, 2023) The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina awarded 100 grants totaling $877,000 to nonprofit organizations working to reduce poverty in South Carolina. This year’s grant recipients serve all 46 counties in South Carolina, and many of these nonprofits provide services across the state.

Since 1996, the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina has awarded over 3,300 grants to South Carolina nonprofits totalling over $83 million.

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina is proud to announce our grant support for organizations that are driving positive change across our state said Donna Waites, President of Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina. We understand the profound impact these organizations have in addressing the needs of our communities and look forward to working alongside them to create a more prosperous future for all South Carolinians.”

The latest round of grants was awarded to nonprofits that are working to reduce poverty in South Carolina in one of three ways:

  • Meeting the immediate needs of people experiencing poverty
  • Breaking the cycle of poverty
  • Working to change the systems that are drivers of poverty

Macon Lovelace, the Chairman of the Board of Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina, added, We are dedicated to empowering nonprofits across the state as we seek to meet our mission to reduce poverty in South Carolina. Through collective action and innovative ideas, we will continue to take meaningful steps together to create a South Carolina where all people have the resources they need to thrive.”
