"Poverty, By America" by Dr. Matthew Desmond Statewide Community Read

Join the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina in reading Poverty, By America.

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina will be reading Poverty, By America by Matthew Desmond this year. Dr. Desmond draws on history, research, and original reporting to explore why the United States has more poverty than any other advanced democracy. As the Foundation reads this book as a staff and Board, they want to invite you to read along with them!

The Foundation has provided a book guide with a sample schedule and suggested questions that you can use to host your own conversations with your organizations and communities. As you have discussions about how poverty intersects with your work, the Sisters of Charity Foundation looks forward to the collaborative solutions that come from this shared learning journey.
