Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina Funding 95 Grants Totaling $1.5 Million

SOUTH CAROLINA – (May 18, 2022) The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina awarded 95 grants totaling $1.5 million to nonprofit organizations throughout the Palmetto State. Each organization is working to better the lives of those experiencing poverty in South Carolina.

Since 1996, the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina has awarded over 3,200 grants to South Carolina nonprofits totaling over $82 million.

“For nearly three decades, Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina has been dedicated to researching, providing resources, and funding organizations that seek to reduce poverty in South Carolina,” Foundation President and CEO, Tom Keith says. “We are proud to partner with nonprofits across the state that are devoted to addressing the unmet needs of individuals, families and communities experiencing poverty. These organizations are doing important work to implement thoughtful programs, provide hope, and create change.”

The latest round of grants were awarded to nonprofits that are working to reduce poverty in South Carolina in one of three ways:
● Meeting the immediate needs of people experiencing poverty
● Breaking the cycle of poverty
● Working to change the systems that are considered to be drivers of poverty
