Ways Philanthropy Can Respond to Attacks on DEI

The Sisters of Charity Foundation remains committed to supporting and advancing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.  We believe that this commitment is foundational to our faith traditions.

Shaun Harper, tenured professor in the Marshall School of Business, Price School of Public Policy, and Rossier School of Education at the University of Southern California, where he holds the Clifford and Betty Allen Chair in Urban Leadership, penned an editorial in Forbes recently offering his thoughts on ways that philanthropic organizations can and should stand firm in the promotion of DEI efforts.

“Philanthropic foundations have invested billions of dollars into programs, research… that help reduce racial, gender, and socioeconomic disparities. Reckless, politicized attacks on diversity, equity, and inclusion threaten to undo much of the progress that has resulted from those foundation investments.”
