Jahavheed George (left) is from St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, and is in his junior year at Benedict College where is pursuing a B.A. in Accounting and currently holds a 4.0 GPA. The college’s Founder’s Scholarship has allowed him to pursue a degree in accounting in hopes of one day becoming a certified public accountant. He is currently serving on the board of a profit organization in St. Thomas that he and fellow classmates founded. Through various fundraising activities, been able to provide a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from Ivanna Eudora Kean High School in St. Thomas. Jahavheed sees this opportunity with the President’s Fellows Program as a chance to gain more knowledge on financial management, philanthropy, and the inner workings of nonprofit organizations. He also sees this as an opportunity to develop his professional skills, leadership abilities, and overall communication.
James Jordan (right) is from Paterson, New Jersey, and is in his third year at Benedict College where he majors in Business Administration and currently holds a 3.76 GPA.
James has held several leadership positions at Benedict College, previously, as a Freshman Orientation Leader; and currently, as a proud member of Brothers in Unity, an African-American male leadership organization. In the future, James aspires to start an organization through his commitment to giving back to his hometown’s community. As a President’s Fellow, James hopes to further his professional development as well as increase his awareness and knowledge of poverty in South Carolina. Additionally, James looks forward to meeting and forming connections with stakeholders and community members as a President’s Fellow.
