On November 3-5 about 70 Sisters who serve across the state of South Carolina gathered in Myrtle Beach, S.C., as they do every year, for the annual Collaboration for Ministry Initiative Conference.

This year’s conference, which was co-sponsored by the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina and the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland, was based on “Respect: Nothing in this World is Indifferent to us,” based on the Pope’s encyclical, Laudato si,’ “On Care For Our Common Home.” Participants discussed ways they can better care for the Earth from an ecological standpoint, as well as spiritually.

In addition to group discussion and presentations from Sr. Ray Maria McNamara, RSM, PhD from Sisters of Mercy of the Americas and Mark Small, J.D, PhD from Clemson University, the Sisters also partook in a few wind-down activities such as movie night and game night.

It is the Foundation’s goal each year to honor the Sisters who are close to the Foundation’s heart and serve the people of our state by giving them the opportunity to gather at the beach with fellow Sisters and recharge through fellowship, relaxation, and fun.
