Tamara Peterson joined the Foundation in 2011. In her current position as Grants Coordinator she is responsible for leading the Collaboration for Ministry Initiative (CMI) grants management and oversight. The CMI supports Women Religious serving in ministry across the state. She also is involved with other aspects of the Foundation’s grantmaking, including review and evaluation of Caritas grants. Ms. Peterson is responsible for the evaluation of the Carolina Academy workshops.
Tamara received both a bachelor’s degree in experimental psychology and a Master of Social Work with a concentration in administration and community organization from the University of South Carolina. She has experience in research and evaluation at the University of South Carolina, The Center for Child and Family Studies and as an intern at The Women’s Shelter. Prior to joining the Foundation, she served as a grant reviewer and evaluator for the Health Resources and Services Administration.
Tamara is a member of the University of South Carolina Black Alumni Council, the United Way of the Midland’s Educational Council and Young Leader’s Society. She is also a participant of the Leadership for the New South program at Columbia College.
In her free time, Tamara enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, motivational reading, music, fashion and art.
