What We Do

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina works daily to address the needs of the poor and underserved in South Carolina through its grant opportunities, education and training for nonprofit organizations, evaluation, collaborative ventures and public policy work.

In addition to its grantmaking the Foundation currently has a greater commitment in the following areas that effect the underserved in South Carolina:

Fatherhood Initiative: a statewide initiative designed to reduce poverty through father engagement, working to strengthen relationships between low-income fathers and their families in South Carolina

Collaboration for Ministry Initiative: supports congregations of women religious in their efforts with the poor and underserved, and work to strengthen and sustain sister-led ministries in South Carolina

Public Policy and Advocacy: advocating for the poor and serving as resource for policy makers on issues affecting the poor and engaging the public on policy issues

Capacity Building: providing nonprofit organizations and leaders in South Carolina with the opportunity to expand their skills and knowledge and enhance educational access, while cultivating personal and organizational responsibility and capacity
