Foundation Awards $752,860 in Responsive Grants


The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina has awarded 13 Responsive Grants totaling $752,860 to non-profit and faith-based organizations across South Carolina.

Responsive Grants are designed to address the root causes of poverty using strategic methods that allow the Foundation to work closely with grantees and develop collaborative relationships by selectively offering focused technical assistance and more intentional monitoring through site visits. Responsive Grants are awarded once a year.

Foundation Announces $90,000 in Funding for Women Religious


The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina has awarded eight Collaboration for Ministry (CMI) grants totaling $90,000 to programs lead by women religious in South Carolina. This comes just after the Foundation awarded $752,860 in funding to other nonprofits throughout the state.

The Foundation recognizes the needs and challenges facing congregations of women religious in South Carolina. These CMI grants were established to support congregations of women religious in their efforts with the poor and underserved in South Carolina.

"These programs, organized by women religious, work daily to address poverty in South Carolina, and are invaluable to our community," said Thomas C. Keith, executive director of the Foundation. "It is our hope that the funding from the Foundation will strengthen and ensure sustainability of these programs in order for them to continue to serve those in need."

2006 Online Annual Report Now Live


The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina's 2006 Annual Report is now available on the foundation's web site. In all, the Foundation funded 87 grants totaling over $2.3 million.
