Foundation and Columbia College Launch Nonprofit Certificate Program

March 15, 2010

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina and Columbia College are pleased to announce the expansion of their graduate level course to a Nonprofit Leadership Training Certificate Program. The certificate program is open to nonprofit leaders in South Carolina, and participants will receive nine graduate-level hours.

The program is designed for those nonprofit leaders who are recognized as having great potential and are ready to take their nonprofit leadership to the next level. The program will provide nonprofit leaders the opportunity to enhance knowledge, skills and frameworks to lead nonprofit organizations in an ever-changing diverse society.

Classes will be held from August 2010 until August 2011. Upon completion participants will receive nine graduate credit hours that may be used toward a graduate degree.  Columbia College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Nonprofit leaders may obtain an application from the Foundation’s Web site. Completed applications and official college transcripts are due to the Foundation by May 31, 2010.

This continued partnership is an expansion of the Foundation’s Learning Academy, which offers free daylong workshops and training to nonprofits addressing poverty across the state. The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina will pay tuition for each student accepted in to the Nonprofit Leadership Training Certificate Program.

“The certificate program illustrates the Foundation’s commitment to providing accessible educational opportunities of the highest quality and leveraging training for the capacity-building needs of nonprofits serving the underserved in South Carolina,” said Tom Keith, president of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina. “Through this collaboration, we can continue to improve the effectiveness and sustainability of nonprofit organizations in this state, and ultimately, the lives of our citizens.”
