Mission and Focus

In the Parable of the Talents (Matthew, 25), Jesus tells us of a master
who entrusted three servants each with a certain amount of treasure.
Two invested their portion wisely and returned additional earnings,
while the third buried his share in the ground, where it profited no
one. Returning, the master rebuked the timid servant but praised the
others, saying to them, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."
The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina
seeks to be a good and faithful servant.
In
keeping with the social teachings of the Catholic Church and the
mission of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine, the Foundation will
use its own strengths and resources to mobilize the resources of
others, confront the fundamental causes of poverty and reduce its
impact in the state.
The Foundation has undertaken a long-term
commitment, which involves much more than making grants. Through
collaborative efforts with others, we seek to gather and disseminate
knowledge, mobilize resources of individuals and communities and
develop systemic approaches that will inspire others to follow God's
purposes and be themselves, "good and faithful servants."
